The forecasts are time interpolated to the satellite observation time and interpolated to the center of the target. The .5 by .5 degree target is centered on the latitude/longitude coordinates given in words 1 and 3. Snow cover information is read from the Air Force snow depth analysis. A location is considered to have snow cover if the depth is at least one inch. Percentage of the target covered is the percentage of Airforce analysis points within the target which are snow covered. Radiation budget parameters are generated from the Univ. of Md algorithm. More information on the algorithm is located in file INSOL.DOC. Data output by the algorithm includes words 39-48, 23, and 49. The ASOS information is currently not being added to the record. All other data (excluding file information) is generated from GOES imager information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Key for selected parameters: Satellite ID: 8 - GOES 8 Land Use: 1 - Ocean 2 - Land 3 - Desert 4 - Snow/Ice ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Forecast time (FTIM) - The forecast data is time interpolated from the two forecasts bracketing the hour being processed. This time refers to the extrapolated valid time. Current areal coverage: maximum latitude 50.0 degrees north mininum latitude 25.0 degrees north maximum longitude 125.0 degrees west minimum longitude 70.0 degrees west Last modified on Feb 4, 2000 |
