Fires generally occur during the following conditions: dry (unsaturated) soil, hot temperatures, and low relative humidity.  Red flag warnings are often issued during the summer and early fall months in Maryland, as dry conditions are most common during this time.  Below are links to the Storm Prediction Center's (SPC) Fire Weather Forecast, Forecast Tools, and the United States Wildland Fire Assessment System.
