Forecast Valid Dates: September 6-10, 2005
Summary:
Good air quality lingers Tuesday, then moderate air quality for the
remainder of
the week with warming temperatures and light winds.
Details:
High pressure will settle over the mid-Atlantic during the medium range
period.
Northeasterly winds will continue to advect clean air into the region on
Tuesday but will shut off Wednesday as high pressure becomes entrenched
overhead. With very light winds, and sunny skies, moderate air
quality
is expected Wednesday.
A cold front will reach New England Thursday but may not push much
further
south. As a result, the bulk of the mid-Atlantic will see slightly
warmer than normal temperatures and light westerly transport.
This will
allow for an extended period of moderate air quality. Because we
are late
in the ozone season, the short length of day will limit the magnitude of
peak ozone concentrations.
