Approach
Shortwave Radiation (SR) provides the primary forcing for land surface energy and water cycles. Correct simulation and partitioning of surface turbulent fluxs depends on accurate estimates of the radiative fluxes. Methodologies to derive surface and top of the atmosphere radiative fluxes will be modified for implementation to key regions of CEOP with a focus on monsoonal regions. The inference schemes will
be implemented primarily with observations from geostationary satellites,
to depict diurnal cycles, and with new relevant satellites, such as MODIS. Instantaneous
