Procedure

• • Expand model data in spectral functions.
  • Calculate mean and variance of amplitude and phase of variables from many realizations.
  • Calculate amplitude and phase from map mean and variance fields using the same realizations.
    
  • Compare the variances from the two calculations.
  • The amplitudes from the map calculation include phase information.
  • If our hypothesis is correct, the variances from the pure amplitude calculation should be smaller.
